I love music, but music videos takes music to whole new level. What I love about music videos so much is the fact that the music itself is intended to have a message or a theme to it, but when a video is released behind the music it adds a whole new element.
Bands that make awesome music videos are very creative and passionate, and they really endear themselves to their fans. It’s a great way to express a hidden message behind the music and to show the world who you are! However, music videos can only have such a powerful effect when it’s performed properly. You can’t simply throw together a quick, easy video; there has to be some magic behind it. A good example is Thriller by Michael Jackson. What a great video! It adds such an amazing feel behind the music while showcasing a powerful theme!
Best of You
This is a cover of one of my favorite songs; Best of You by american alternative-rock band Foo Fighters. It is an alternative rock song in which I cover the vocals. I love to sing, and this song is super melodic, but is tough to sing because Dave Grohl is an amazing singer. Honestly, just capturing the original emotion poured into the song by Dave is super tough to emulate as well. My friends love this video because I’m a terrible actor and it’s evident in this video. I produced this video and cover back in May of 2014 when I was in grade 12 back in highschool. That’s my long-time friend Brandon Paige with the fancy shades. My good friend Amit Gill helped film the video. Since this video, I have grown and matured as a vocalist and I sound better now.
Hail to the King
This is a cover of one of my favorite songs; Hail to the King by american Heavy Metal band Avenged Sevenfold. It is a heavy metal song in which I cover the vocals. I love to sing, and this song is one of the more challenging ones I have done. In this song I did two vocal tracks in the song, a track of clean vocals and a track of screamed/growled vocals. My friends love this video because I show off my jet-black metal hair! I produced this video and cover back in June of 2014 when I was in grade 12 back in highschool. That’s my long-time friend Brandon Paige on the drums. My good friend Amit Gill helped film the video. This was a final project for a video class in which we received 100%. Since this video, I have grown and matured as a vocalist and I sound better now.
Revealing What’s Hidden
This is a music video showcasing me performing a song I wrote. The song is an original by myself, which deals with finding truth in the constant lies of society. Filming, editing, recording, mixing, mastering, producing was all done by myself. In the song, I play the drums, bass, guitar and I sing. This song was made in March of 2015. A big thank you to fellow British Columbia Institute of Technology Radio Arts and Entertainment students Taylor Dergousoff and Matt McArthur who helped with the filming of the video. This is my first experience mixing a song, and I’m constantly improving.
