Making Contact

Making Contact is a 12 minute, recorded-live feature that runs on Evolution 107.9, which is BCIT’s very own radio station. The feature is split into two 6-minute segments with a 30 second commercial in between. It can literaly be about anything. All you need is a topic, a story behind it, and a guest who’s credible. The aim is to make an episode as engaging as possible. You literally only have 10 seconds to capture your audience. So, you have to write a captivating intro that will engage your listener. Then pursue a story and get an angle. What story can people relate to? Why would people listen to your show? Also, prep is super important. If you have no prep for the interview, man you’re going to look bad. If you do a lot of research beforehand on the subject, you can ask some pretty darn good questions and get very good content. Plus you can impress your guest that way! All episodes of Making Contact are produced at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) at the Burnaby campus by the Radio Arts and Entertainment students
